Hi Tony, thanks for your discussions @ black stump. Slight correction to your post. AGMF/Easterfest is the largest christian music festival which is held in April, it’s attendance is 41,000 which is slightly higher than 4000 at Black stump

Tony, thanks for the coverage of Australian stuff.

The small ‘churched’ population is both a huge opportunity to be innovative and a challenge as there is only a small flow of funds to support new church models.

Most Australians have formed a view of Christianity based on an authoritarian church – the very large portion of the population with a southern European heritage is probably a big part of that. Australians love being egalitarian, so any association with authoritarian models (or even with big nations like the USA) is a challenge. So, whilst there is a very small ‘churched’ population, that doesn’t translate to a completely clean slate when engaging local communities.

Come visit Melbourne sometime and see the most progressive and artistically active city in Australia!
