"The New Christians" Hits Shelves Early

The word on the street is that Tony Jones’ new book The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier (due out March 3) is already available in some stores around the country. Check your local Barnes & Noble this weekend to see if it’s in.

Publisher’s Weekly said this about The New Christians: “Jones provides the single best introduction to the Emergent Church movement, of which he is a prominent leader. The mainline denominations are dying and the hyper-individualism of evangelicalism is unsatisfying, so many young evangelicals, Jones explains, have decided to recreate church for post-modern times. ... He passionately defends the emergent movement from criticism. In particular, critics are wrong to claim that emergents don’t really believe in the Bible; emergents passionately love the Bible, says Jones, but also know that finite human beings cannot definitively articulate truth. The strongest sections put flesh on these theoretical bones by taking readers into actual emergent churches.”

Tony was recently interviewed on “The Nick and Josh Podcast,” which has 200,000+ subscribers (or some wicked crazy number like that).

Tony has some book launch events coming up, and there’s information leaking out about a summer tour, as well.

Sweet.

Still say it looks like Han from Empire Strikes Back on the cover. I expect the sequel to feature an ewok.

My local B&N had it in a week ago, I put a review up in the blog.
