A comment on Sherman Kuek’s universal core contextural essay part 1 shared by Brian McLaren: The CORE of the Gospel message is, quite simply, Unconditional LOVE. This does not change – its core, not context. The context is the shell, the approach to the core, and that is influenced by all kinds of social and cultural variables – always has been, always will be. The attitudes and interpretations of man. The context is always man-defined, man-imposed. The core is beyond man; really undefinable in our small terms. It is GOD/LOVE, the unchanging, eternal, life-giving source…. Known only to us by our relative perceptions…the fragility of which, I might add, should not be feared, but embraced and explored. Like a multifaceted diamond, the more facets we can see, the better we can understand and appreciate the entirety of the gem. My hope is that emergents “get to the core” with a less doctrinal, more universally accepting, loving, peaceful approach (context).
