You can follow updates from the The Great Emergence National Event, December 5-6 in Memphis (starting today with pre-conference events), using the Twitter feed ticker (#tge) below:

UPDATE: Jonathan Brink is at The Great Emergence National Event, and he’s blogging (and tweeting) from there so check out his blog.

UPDATE 12/5/2008: Father T. (Terry Martin) shares in the comments that he’s also liveblogging from The Great Emergence National Event. Check out his blog!

UPDATE 12/6/2008: Jonathan Brink reports, ”[Phyllis Tickle] made a significant point about how this turn is deeply affecting the concept of Sola Scriptura. ... The final subject in the turn away will be how we address homosexuality in the church. She reiterated that it’s not if Sola Scriptura ends but when.” Read the rest of Jonathan’s update on day 1 at The Great Emergence National Event.

Peter Rollins writes, “The conference has pulled together some of the key players on the US scene in relation to emergent thought and praxis. It feels like a significant marker in the movement and it is a privilege to be part of the conversation.”

Here is a video of the 15 slides from Rollins’ presentation at The Great Emergence event:

UPDATE 12/10/2008: Tony Jones (the Jo in JoPa Productions) has posted his recap of The Great Emergence event: “Get people in front of an author (particularly one who can communicate orally), and those people will develop a fondness and affinity for that author and her work. ... I’m hardly neutral in saying this, but I think the event was a smashing success. Thanks to everyone who participated!”

Tim Keel writes, “We met in the historic and beautiful Episcopal cathedral of St. Mary’s. Speaking of its history, Phyllis made some comments that have stuck with me more than anything else she (or anyone else) said during the two days we were together.” Read his recap post for the rest of the story.

Doug Pagitt (the Pa in JoPa Productions) recaps: “I know that as the planner and executor of the event my opinion may be biased, but I think the event was great. ... Tony and I have been looking ahead to the next JoPa Productions event (JoPa is the event company we started to produce events). We are working on final details of large national event for October 2009.”

UPDATE 12/11/2008: According to Tony Jones (via Twitter), “Phyllis (Tickle) doesn’t want audio without video, so the talks [from The Great Emergence National Event] won’t be online. But we’re hoping to produce a DVD sometime soon.”

do these get moderated before posting?

Rick, Nope, no moderation, just a slightly glitchy CAPTCHA system on the comment form, which we’re working on fixing. Sorry for any trouble anyone has with commenting!
