Evangelicals for Darfur
Today Emergent Village board member Brian McLaren joined the Southern Baptist Convention’s Richard Land, the National Association of Evangelicals’ Ted Haggard, Rob Bell, Lauren Winner, and others in issuing a joint statement to President Bush urging him to take immediate action on the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan.
These Evangelicals for Darfur are “calling for an immediate conference with the President to discuss economic sanctions and the intervention of a United Nations peacekeeping force in the war-torn region.”

Why are the leaders of uor goverment do something about the MILLIONS of BLACK people in Darfur? Lets face it the current people that we have in power have their own agenda. We as a world should be color blind and we should also stand up for others that are being victized. The only reason that this Terror has been allowed is because the are BLACK and I guess that they don’t or are not experiencing terror it is all in their minds right. No more then in our own country did our Goverment drop the ball as far as all of the people that suffored in Katrina. But once again the people were prodominately poor Black people.I was down there to help a little in the rebuilting of New Orleans, but the money just isn’t being given to the right places. We are rebuilding Iraq already while our own people still don’t have anything. We as Christians need to make a stand for the injustice not only here but around the world. We have to remember that every waterfall started with one drop of water. But look at all the beautiful places that have changed because the mighty force of all. GOD BLESS!!!
Praise God that Christian groups that don’t always cooperate very well are uniting around a message of love and justice.
I do hope that your government will take some action. Mine is as sadly silent. Would that we would feel the horrors of terrorism and starvation and render timely aid suucour to brother and sister human beings who live only to see their loved ones dying around them.
It is encouraging that we can look beyond our borders and try to bring hope to those without. It is also encouraging to know that we are not the only ones thinking about those beyond our borders but that there are people all over the world that consistently pray for america and the tragedies that have struck us as well.
