Emerging Church Posters: A More Generous View
Last week, Phil Johnson over at the newly-formed TeamPyro blog posted some satirical “Motivational Posters for the Emerging Church.” Andrew Jones applauded the effort, saying, “I may not agree with the conclusions or assumptions that have motivated them, but I appreciate the quality, the humor, the approach, and the tone. I see them as an invitation to respond with something similar. Maybe this is a new way of debating using images and media … and I like it.”
Now Grace, at the Emerging Grace blog, has posted some visual responses, which she calls “A More Generous View.”

these are great! i’m only slightly offended ;)
actually, I really think its a great idea to be open to criticism and to seek the truth in the midst of the generalizations. I was most struck by the one on “Incarnational Living” – “What would Jesus do? I’m pretty sure he’d do the kind of stuff I think is cool.”
ouch.
I saw here recently on a blog something of the horror of horrors on church abuse. I have a friend who was abused this way during a divorce and wanted to read again but can’t seem to find it. Help WaynO
“Newly formed”?
Where have you been?
Darlene, it’s my understanding that Phil Johnson was blogging solo until recently when he formed this “TeamPyro” and went with a group blog approach. I realize he’s been doing his Pyromaniac blog for quite some time. It’s the Team aspect of it that is new. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

I like the posts, they are profound and thought provoking. But I also like the satire of the competition. Sometimes, believers have to be jolted a little to get their attention.
