A Call for Voices
You have a story to tell. It’s probably a local story, the kind best told among friends over coffee on a winter day. Maybe it’s your community’s perspective, an unanticipated incandescence that brought your tribe some new Kingdom resolve. Stories of shared life and vocation, of counterintuitive faith stories grafted together with tales of the mundane or with glimpses of beauty. These are the stories that define you and your community.
The social object theory states that worthwhile social interactions tend to center around an object, described by social media theorist Jyri Engeström as “the reason people connect with each particular other and not something else.” Web technologist Iain McDonald describes the social object as “the centerpiece in a dialogue between two or more people.”
To the same degree that your Kingdom-stories are meaningful social objects on a local level, they can also be potentially profound to this, your family of friends and would-be-friends called Emergent Village. It’s no surprise that this village is also connected by—and centered around—the stories of the collective. What is surprising is how few stories filter up and lend their voices on the national and international scale.
The Village is sustained by new stories, by new storytellers. Emergent|C hopes to bring your stories to the wider Village each month. Consider this your invitation to tell, retell, question, prod, report, critique, interpret or celebrate. For more information or to tell your story, contact Amy Moffitt at amymoffitt42@gmail.com.

I have been called to be healer, mystic, poet, prophet, salty saint (mostly salty)...and I have been called as shepherd to the shepherdless…I truly do live and hang out with sinners (whores, pimps, drug dealers, saints, businesswomen, preachers….). I have been called to live God’s truth: a comforting and disturbing grace…

Where is Jesus in American “Church?” Where is the truth in our silos of information that separately explain nothing but together explain everything? When will we realize that God can be in all of our endeavors, and that we can live with one whole mind, one whole experience? Immanuel, God is With Us… It is possible to be a scientist AND a Christian!!
It is discouraging to not find the answers you need in our mondern day churches, but you can rest in the promise that if you seek you fil find, if you knock the door will be opened to you. Jesus word, the bible has everything you need. It is where we go for answers, to learn for mystery, for hidden gems, for love and comfort. At frist glance it seems not user friendly. Another mystery! Because when you pray and ask God to open up your eyes to be able to understand it, He does…
Man is failable and the bible says the heart is decietful above all things. Go to the source, quit trying to search creation for the answers on the creator.
The things of religon are science and more…, the miracles,
the truths, the prophesy, etc. The very existence of God,
prophecy, the afterlife, etc…, is a science that goes
beyond the common man’s capacity to explain it
scientifically, simply because the science regarding God and
the afterlife is far too advanced for the common man to
explain scientifically and therefore this incomprehensible
science has been relegated to the realm of
“religion”.
If you could go back in time and take something as simple as
a Bic lighter or battery operated flashlight with you the
people of that time would have ZERO comprehension of what is
a very simple science to us today. The “primitive”
people, upon seeing us use these simple (to us) tools, would
surely perceive us as gods performing miracles,
or demons performing magic. Anyone who understands the human
behaviors of history should KNOW that and understand it almost as
easily as they understand that 1+1=2.
President Obama recently said something about connecting the
dots. The “dots” are symbolic of the evidence and
the lines drawn to connect them are symbolic of one’s
gathering of the evidence. As is usually the case with
nearly EVERYTHING, it takes real logic and reason to
accurately draw the picture and therefore conclude what
caused the picture to be as it is. Once this is done the
picture can be changed by changing the location, timing,
color, number of the dots, etc, etc, etc…
Understanding the will of God is NOT that difficult because
all one has to do is READ and connect the dots according to
reason and logic. It’s ALL been explained numerous times to
every nation and generaton of peoples on earth in every language
necessary.
Therefore, MY question is…, “What
exactly IS mankind’s major malfunction here on this
earth?” The answer to that question also has been and continues to be explained to ALL people of EVERY
generation in EVERY language necessary.
The difficulties regarding religion and the science of
religion are NOT found in the religion or the science of the
religion. The difficulty is found within ourselves, PERIOD.
Even THAT has been and continues to be explained to all
peoples of all generations in every language necesary as
well. It’s so simple it’s almost TOO simple…
SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND… KNOCK AND IT SHALL BE OPENED UNTO
YOU.
Additionally, I am currently about 600 pages into the Quran and am finding that the Quran resembles the Bible a great deal. Because of this and other stuff I’ve personally seen, heard and experienced, I believe that EVERYONE should read the Quran the same as I believe that EVERYONE should read the Bible. I also say to those who won’t read the Quran, or dislike any Muslim peoples simply because they aren’t Christian…, I personally don’t believe anyone who dislikes a person simply because of their religious beliefs, or lack thereof, is a TRUE Christian living and acting in accordance to the words of Christ.

I know what it’s like to hear no voices “filtering up” from the underground. Compared to the bedlam we hear from usual communications media. But they do exist, like seeds germinating through a winter. We’re here! For example, our little community “Wood Hath Hope” has been seeking to respond to God’s word of the impossibly new for ten years now. Every week we create a beloved space together which steadily evaporates with returning day to day concerns but is renewed unfailingly. Thanks for this website, a wonderful resource, both for the individual contacts, and for the exhilarating picture of something truly new emerging from this old land of Christianity. I pray the Lord sustain you. Tony. http://www.woodhathhope.com/
