Indianapolis Emergent Cohort

The Indianapolis Emergent Cohort provides support and encouragement for Christians who ask why and want something more. We are a conversation among sincere Christ-followers figuring out how to live our faith in emerging church and culture.

Rob Bell will be returning to the Murat Theater on the 11th of December, 2009 in support of his new book entitled "Drops Like Stars." Rob was last in Indianapolis in November of 2007 on his "The Gods Aren't Angry" tour and in May of 2006 on his "Everything is Spiritual" tour. Do not miss this thought provoking evening with Rob.

Tickets are available through LiveNation or from the Murat Box Office (# 502 North New Jersey Street. Indianapolis, IN 46204 # (317) 231-0000)
Tickets are $18, plus a $9 convenience fee if you buy them online, or $2.50 at the Murat box office.

I will try to buy a block after our September cohort meeting, so get me your money by then if you want to be included. Or feel free to get them yourself ahead of time.

We'll meet immediately afterwards for discussion at the Old Point Tavern.

    Doors are at 7PM.

For more information on Rob Bell, please check his website.

We plot, we plan, we assume things are going to go A certain way and then they don’t and we find ourselves
In a new place, a place we haven’t been before, a place
We never would have imagined on our own,

And so it was difficult and unexpected and maybe even
Tragic and yet it opened us up and freed us to see
Things in a whole new way

    Suffering does that—
    It hurts,
    But it also creates.

How many of the most significant moments in your
Life came not because it all went right, but because
    It all fell apart?

It’s strange how there can be art in the agony…

The Drops Like Stars tour is a two
Hour exploration of the endlessly complex
    Relationship between suffering and creativity—
And I’d love to see you there.

The emergent church believes you can behave however you want. God, however, says in His Word, that we should walk not as other gentiles walk, we should flee youthful lusts, and we should abhor evil and cleave to good. (Eph 4:17, 2Tim 2:22, Rom 12:9). God would not have His people getting drunk, commiting adultery or fornication, or mingling in worldly behavior. His death on the cross allowed us to be freed from the bondage of sin, and He would not have us continue therein. He wants us to look toward Him and follow after His ways. Trying to say “Give me Jesus but don’t make me change my ways” is man’s way of trying to justify sin. Sin is wrong. Doing evil is wrong. Read the Bible (start with Romans), and you’ll see it’s true. By the way, Jesus is the only way to heaven (John 14:6).
