Indianapolis Emergent Cohort

The Indianapolis Emergent Cohort provides support and encouragement for Christians who ask why and want something more. We are a conversation among sincere Christ-followers figuring out how to live our faith in emerging church and culture.

We'll get together to talk about books we're reading, ideas for events and issues we can support through our group and to just gather and celebrate God's activity in our lives! Bring ideas to share for other meet ups. This will be a regular monthly gathering!

  2. Conversation on the Canal

While the weather is still pleasant we can meet at the central canal in front of the rental desk and walking bridge. We'll walk and find a place to sit and talk about the way we can support and participate as a group in the life of our city. Discuss ideas for ministries or organizations that we would like to explore and get involved with. And of course just enjoy spending time together, sharing the ways that we see God working in our lives and how we are responding. We may find a place to get some refreshments as we walk the canal! This meet up will be what we make it! http://www.discoverca...

The emergent church believes you can behave however you want. God, however, says in His Word, that we should walk not as other gentiles walk, we should flee youthful lusts, and we should abhor evil and cleave to good. (Eph 4:17, 2Tim 2:22, Rom 12:9). God would not have His people getting drunk, commiting adultery or fornication, or mingling in worldly behavior. His death on the cross allowed us to be freed from the bondage of sin, and He would not have us continue therein. He wants us to look toward Him and follow after His ways. Trying to say “Give me Jesus but don’t make me change my ways” is man’s way of trying to justify sin. Sin is wrong. Doing evil is wrong. Read the Bible (start with Romans), and you’ll see it’s true. By the way, Jesus is the only way to heaven (John 14:6).
